MIND – ECKHART TOLLE.  “Your mind is an instrument, a tool. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down.”

The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very
destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly –
you usually don’t use it at all. It uses you. This is the disease. You believe that you are your
mind. This is the delusion. The instrument has taken you over.

“The mind is incessantly looking not only for food for thought; it is looking for food for its identity, its sense of self. This is how the ego comes into existence and continuously re-creates itself.”

Consciousness is a vast ocean and thinking is the waves & ripples on the surface of the ocean.

Thinking is no more than a tiny aspect of the totality of consciousness, the totality of who you are.
The thinking mind is a useful and powerful tool, but it is also very limiting when it takes over your life completely, when you don’t realize that it is only a small aspect of the consciousness that you are.

“Fear seems to have many causes. Fear of loss, fear of failure, fear of being hurt, and so on, but ultimately all fear is the ego’s fear of death, of annihilation. To the ego, death is always just around the corner. In this mind-identified state, fear of death affects every aspect of your life.”
